Date Idea #329 – Plan a weekend getaway to be together for a few days
This date idea is a “two for one” bonus date. Your first date will be to plan a short getaway and the second date starts when you actually take the getaway together.
Marriage experts suggest couples should go on a weekend getaway 1-4 times every year. These couples retreats are brief 1-2 night escapes where you can be together, reconnect and have fun falling in love again. It’s a time to get away from the stress of normal life and just enjoy doing things with each other.
PLANNING DATE:
Discuss on your date night where you want to go on your getaway, how long it should be, what activities you can do and the planned calendar dates you want to go. Look through hotel or AirB&B lodging options and if possible, book your stay on this date. If it helps, put a small amount of money into a jar or bank account each paycheck for couples getaway/vacation fund.
GETAWAY DATE:
Your actual getaway will be one big 2-3 day date together. Spend time reconnecting and doing activities to get you closer. Build some memories and fall in love again.
INEXPENSIVE OPTIONS:
You can do many things to lower the cost I these getaways if your budget is tight. Plan a location close to you that you can drive to, instead of flying. Look for hotels with a free breakfast. Save money on food by getting food from a grocery store and making it, instead eating out every meal. Look for free activities you can do in the area. If money is real tight, plan a staycation where you stay at home, get parents/babysitters for the kids, but spend several days doing activities together.
Cost: Your planning date is free. You decide what your getaway cost should be, but you should expect several hundred dollars. It will be worth the cost, I promise.
